Why is the teacher so important?
The importance of the teacher in Buddhism and generally in the Eastern spiritual traditions can hardly be overestimated. In particular, our whole community is the result of the energy and activity of one quite exceptional individual and we feel that this has to be reflected in an appropriate way. The spiritual path of the ‘variety’ we practice really depends on the inspiration, example and power of someone who exemplifies where it leads. Any other kind of teacher would be deceiving, but a properly qualified teacher does deserve a central role. Our particular teacher, Lama Ivo, is a very down-to-earth individual with a great sense of humor. Maybe we have not built the website in the most perfect way and maybe the information on him may sound insufficient, but he has to be experienced in person to be fully appreciated, and we can do only so much on the Internet.
